After Cleveland Indians Do the Unthinkable, Company Out $2M

The co-owners of an Ohio company that installs windows, doors, and siding watched Thursday night's Cleveland Indians game very closely—and those owners may now wish they stuck with home improvement over sports wagers. 

Per ESPN, the Indians stomped the Chicago White Sox 11-2, which meant Universal Windows Direct is now out nearly $2 million. That's because the company held a promotion over the summer that offered any customer doing business with them during the month of July a full rebate if the Indians pulled off a 15-game winning streak anytime from Aug. 1 through the end of the MLB season.

 That streak, which started for the Indians on Aug. 24, continued with the 15th straight win for the Indians Thursday night—both a new record for the franchise and the most consecutive wins in MLB since the Oakland A's achieved 20 in a row 15 years ago.
