Knicks Great Charles Oakley Accepts Plea Deal in Las Vegas Case

Former NBA star power forward Charles Oakley will not serve jail time under the terms of a plea deal in a casino cheating case.

Oakley, 54, was arrested July 8 after allegedly being caught on video pulling back a $100 chip after realizing he was going to lose a hand at a poker game at the Cosmopolitan Casino. On two other hands, officials said Oakley added chips to increase his payout.

The New York Daily News reports Oakley pleaded no contest to misdemeanor disorderly conduct stemming from the arrest.

He was initially accused of "adding or reducing his wager" after the outcome of a game was known.

Oakley faced up to six years in prison if convicted of committing a "fraudulent act in a gambling establishment."

The former basketball player's lawyer said his client "appreciates the professionalism of the (Clark County) district attorney and the Cosmopolitan in resolving this event."
