Piers Morgan Dragged For Calling Naomi Osaka 'Brat’ Over French Open Exit

Former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan is facing swift backlash after calling tennis star Naomi Osaka an “ arrogant spoiled brat” over her exit from the French Open tournament. Morgan published a column for the Daily Mail accusing Osaka, 23, of having an “inflated ego” and unable to face the media if she “hasn’t played well.” “This has got nothing to do with mental health,” he wrote, referring to Osaka as “world sport’s most petulant little madam.”

This isn’t the first time Morgan has downplayed a Black woman’s mental health struggle in the public. In March, Morgan claimed Meghan Markle was lying about struggling with her mental health after an interview with husband Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey aired.

But people have dragged the TV personality for hypocrisy after he walked off the set of his own show when co-host Alex Beresford pushed back against Morgan’s comments on Markle’s mental health.

Fellow tennis champion Coco Gauff, as well as a host of other celebrities have publicly supported Osaka in stepping away from the tournament and prioritizing her health. Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, rapper Chika and Beyoncé's BeyGOOD Foundation spoke out on social media in support of the Osaka.
