Charles Barkley Believes LeBron James Should Request a Trade

Dan Patrick: "Now that LeBron has Luka, is LeBron more likely to stay a year or two? Or leave? Or maybe retire?"
Charles Barkley: "That's a fascinating question. What is he hanging around for? I personally think, if I was him, I would waive my no-trade. The Lakers are not contenders right now. I'd do a Tom Brady and go put myself in a perfect situation, and I can have 2 more bites at the apple. I don't know what the perfect situation is, but he's holding all the cards. He can go to the Lakers and say 'let's have our cake and eat it too. I can get you a couple players, maybe a couple draft picks. Let's pick out a perfect scenario.' That's what Tom Brady did, he took the perfect situation in Tampa. The only problem they have right now is they have to make a decision by Thursday at 4:00, but that's a lot of time in NBA years. That's what I would do if I were him."

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley joins The Dan Patrick Show! Barkley gives his thoughts on the trade sending Luka Doncic to the Lakers and explains why the Mavericks are on the winning side of the deal, for now. Barkley breaks down why LeBron James should seek out a trade from Los Angeles in order to increase his chances of getting one more title before he retires. Plus, Barkley gives an update on his current media deal, including why one network's executives are being "stupid."
