Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh hit his 50th homerun last night as he led his squad to a win over the surging San Diego Padres and you can color DP impressed. The Big Dumper is shattering records as a switch-hitter and as a catcher, and most impressively, he’s doing it while helping his team stay prominently in the playoff race.
Dan Patrick: “Cal Raleigh has done a great job, and he’s done it in Seattle where you’re not going to get much fanfare, probably not putting you on Sunday Night Baseball and, you know, good for him! And to do it as a switch-hitter, and at that position, that’s what’s remarkable. So, I’m hoping, and I don’t know how much they would factor in; he’s doing it as a catcher. That should be factored in. You’re right in the MVP race and your team’s in the playoff hunt; that’s a big deal.”
